Two years ago,the need of the LED headlamps appeared,but a large number of people still like to choose the old-fashioned halogen bulbs.

Now,the LED technology has matured and caught up with the old-fashioned halogen bulbs.Although the LED products have so many advantages,people would rather buy the old-fashioned halogen bulbs.

"There is no big difference between xenon and LED. LEDs have the same performance as a good xenon system, not just a low-end xenon system," Dr Wolfgang Pohlmann of German automotive lighting firm Hella told Electronics Weekly.

Since there is no big problem in the xenon system,why people still like to choose the old-fashioned halogen bulbs?

"It is a question of time, LED technology is very new," he said. "It is very possible for us to see more LED headlamps than xenon headlamps used in the cars in four or five years."

Although lighting LEDs have increased dramatically in efficiency - first appearing at 20 lm/W, which is little better than a halogen lamp, to better than 100 lm/W - there is still too much heat for passive heatsinking in most headlights. Of course,this is a good way to improve the LED lighting.
